Flat Renna goes to California!

Flat Renna went to visit Un-Flat Renna's aunt in San Francisco, California.  She had a whirlwind tour of the city and its sights.  Here's a recap, with plenty of photos!

First, she headed north our of the city to what is called "The Wine Country," because the climate and soil is very god for growing grapes, which is made into wine.

So many options of places to go!

This is a vineyard in the background - see the straight rows of grapes growing?

Flat Renna even got to touch a real Emmy award statue.  She must be quite the actress!

She also got to visit a magical place called Fairyland:

Can you find her in this picture?

When she got back to the city, she got to go to the famous Bay Bridge, which is a long suspension bridge that goes across the San Francisco Bay.

Another way to go across the bay is to take a ferry boat.  You can even drive a car on the ferry boat, so that you can drive it when you get off the boat!

Flat Renna took a nice walk around Lake Merrit is Oakland with her Aunt and Uncle:

She got to see some really cool sights around downtown too.  This is the view from her Aunt's office window.  Nice, huh?

She also got to see downtown from up high:

The TransAmerica tower is kind of a famous San Francisco landmark - it's the pointy skyscraper in this photo:

She got to see the Facebook headquarters,

a real San Francisco cable car,

a cool Farmer's Market,

and a view of Marin County from way up high.

After all of that, she had a well-deserved dinner with Non-Flat Renna's aunt:

Flat John goes to Colorado!

Flat John visited Round John's grandparents in Grand Junction, Colorado!  While he was there, he drove though the Colorado National Monument (well, the grandparents drove - Flat John had a hard time seeing over the steering wheel).  It was a 12 mile drive thought the Monument.  The Colorado National Monument is lie a small Grand Canyon, with many majestic views and spires.  Independence Monument is one of the spires and many new cars have been helicoptered onto its top as part of an advertising campaign.

Years ago, dinosaurs freely roamed the area around Grand Junction, Colorado.  Many of their bones are being dug up all the time.  Some of these dinosaurs have been recreated in two of the museums in town.

The distance between Grand Junction and Minneapolis is about 1,000 miles!

The Flat Friends are on their way(s)!!!!

It was a very exciting day in Room 206 last week when we packed up our Flat Friends

and walked over to the mailbox

to send them on their merry ways!  I hope that they arrive at their destinations safe and sound, and that we learn a lot about all of the places that they will visit!
